Reviewing and Revitalizing Mobile Service Processes

Honeywell, one of our premier partners, just recently surveyed 260 organizations worldwide, looking to gather information on how they manage and assess their field service processes. Being the data-nut that I am, I’m always looking for the numbers to validate the facts – and these numbers look pretty noteworthy to me. But don’t bother reading the survey report to fish out the stats; I’ll list the findings for you:

  • 38% of organizations look to save 30+ minutes per day, per technician by refining their field service workflow processes
  • 75% have reviewed their mobile workforce processes in the past year
    • 63% of the remaining 25% of organizations haven’t conducted a process review in over 5 years
  • 27% focus on revenue objectives while reviewing their processes

What do I see when I compile these stats? I see that companies are looking to improve their mobile workers’ workflow processes, but some may be trying to do so by cutting corners (aka reducing costs) rather than striving for revenue growth.

So how exactly does a company improve their field service processes with revenue growth in mind? By empowering the employees with the technology needed to get the job done. When it comes to field mobility, there’s no better device to increase efficiency than a mobile computer. Versatile and compact, mobile computers allow field service employees to improve their processes and tackle all of those “Top 4 Efficiency Improvement Opportunities” on the go, in addition to much more.

It’s impossible for one mobile computer to be the right fit for all field service applications. As you begin your search, we suggest you start by exploring options such as the Dolphin 6000 Scanphone for a team communication-focused application, or possibly the Optimus 5900 for applications utilizing RFID.

When was the last time you reviewed your field service processes? How could you improve the process efficiency with revenue growth in mind? What mobile computer would be the right fit for your services? These are all questions you should be asking yourself – and questions we can help you answer.
