My previous post covering the Advantech Intelligent Building Solution (AiBS) focused primarily on its Intelligent Parking scenario, just one of the four major scenarios that help define this comprehensive approach to iBuilding design and management – scenarios that were specifically considered by Advantech to encourage development of refinements busy enterprise engineers might otherwise miss.
AiBS’s Intelligent Reception scenario extends the benefits of its Intelligent Parking capabilities beyond the parking lot and building entrance. After visitors are guided to the reception area by the Intelligent Parking feature, reception staff will welcome them and confirm their identities, providing visitors with electronic identification cards with which they can access the interactive, multimedia installations located strategically withing the building. Confirming their arrival on the touchscreen located in the reception area will alert all appropriate enterprise staff of the guests’ presence via SMS.
During a meeting, AiBS’s Intelligent Meeting Room scenario integrates multimedia presentations and room lighting fixtures so that no complex manual adjustments are required in creating optimum conditions for any and all presentation modes. Instead, a fully integrated control panel facilitates a variety of modes, including General Meeting Mode, Briefing Mode, Whiteboard Mode and Video Mode. Just select the desired master mode and all necessary devices will be automatically set up, including appropriate lighting.
In addition, each room is equipped with sensors that detect the number of people present, as well as such environmental factors as carbon dioxide density, humidity and temperature, enabling AiBS to automatically adjust the climate control systems for the optimum comfort of the occupants. After the room has been vacant for a predetermined period, the AiBS automatically returns lighting and climate control to an optimum energy-saving mode.
As with AiBS’s Intelligent Parking scenario, its Intelligent Reception and Intelligent Meeting Room scenarios are not mere pie-in-the-sky ideals, but are instead fully realized advancements that are being deployed in Advantech’s own intelligent buildings at its Kunshan R&D Center in China and its Linkou Headquarters in Taiwan. AiBS is people-centric, emphasizing the security, health, comfort and convenience of its users in creating the friendliest possible user experience, all while realizing efficiencies that are as good for the enterprise’s bottom line as they are for the environment.
