Advantech recently announced one of the most intriguing approaches we’ve seen to system development, a new program that allows Network Equipment Providers (NEPs) and OEMs to design highly customized, application-specific systems using readily-available off-the-shelf components. This rapid system-customization approach has been dubbed “C²OTS” by Advantech for “customized commercial-off-the-shelf.” As described by Advantech, “C²OTS gives OEMs more differentiating feature sets with the same time-to-market, lower risk and cost effectiveness of off-the-shelf solutions.” By combining instantly-deliverable standard products and the advantages of custom design, C²OTS helps NEPs and OEMs expedite deployment of custom-tailored solutions.
The C²OTS approach can be applied to rack-mount and to bladed systems, as well as to Advantech’s new Fabric Mezzanine Modules (FMMs), of which six models are currently available, and is made possible because all Advantech product lines have been specifically designed with later customization in mind. So, whether your custom solution requires one core or 192, C²OTS will simplify deployment of Advantech’s efficient, scalable platforms. Once designed, your C²OTS solution can be certified via Advantech’s ATCA Systems Integration Services.
Bottom line: C²OTS enables faster creation of custom-tailored solutions at the lower costs associated with off-the-shelf products.
