RFID Antennas

RFID Antennas are the part of your RFID system that receive information from RFID tags and send it to the RFID Reader. Different applications will require different read ranges, and because of that, there are two types of RFID tags. They can be either active or passive: active tags are powered & can broadcast their information to an RFID Antenna up to 100 meters away, and are generally used in hospitals, shipping yards, construction sites, and any place where assets need to be tracked as they move around a designated area. Passive RFID tags (like those printed with an RFID Printer) have much smaller read ranges (3 meters or less, depending on the power of your RFID Antenna) and are suited for any place where products being tracked go through a ‘chokepoint’ – library drop box, conveyor belt, tolls, etc. are all great places to implement a passive RFID system.
